Introduction

I’m so excited that you’re considering my beautiful country for your wedding. Switzerland has so many incredible places to celebrate, and I have no doubt that you’re going to have an unforgettable experience here. What I love most about Switzerland is how much variety it offers within such short distances. You could have an alpine wedding in Zermatt with the iconic Matterhorn as your backdrop, a lakeside celebration in Montreux with the Alps overlooking Lake Geneva, or something a little more Mediterranean in Lugano, where palm trees meet the mountains.

As a wedding photographer based in Switzerland, I’ve had the joy of documenting some of the most meaningful celebrations of love in my beautiful country. Trust me, you cannot go wrong here. People are professional, kind, and punctual, and you’ll be treated wonderfully throughout your wedding experience. Every picture you see here is my own, and I hope they bring back all the feelings of your amazing wedding in Switzerland.

Whether you are dreaming of an intimate gathering with 20 to 50 guests or a larger celebration with 80 to 150 guests or more, Switzerland offers the perfect setting for every type of wedding. With its breathtaking landscapes and world-class hospitality, it’s an extraordinary destination for couples who want their wedding to feel truly special.

In this guide, I’ll share some of the most beautiful wedding venues across Switzerland and a few helpful tips to help you plan an unforgettable celebration in the heart of the Alps.

  • Accessibility: Centrally located in Europe, it’s easy for guests from different countries to attend.

My favorite wedding venues in Switzerland

Because Switzerland has so much variety, I will do my best to seperate all the venues into different groups. Alpine & Lake Side.

Alpine wedding venues

CERVO Mountain Resort – Zermatt

Riedweg 156, 3920 Zermatt

Capacity: up to 125 guests

I recently shot a destination wedding at the Cervo and it was incredible. It offers a wonderful terrace for your cocktail and a great space for your reception woth up to 125 seated guests. If you are having an intimate wedding, you could have your ceremony in the back garden with a view on the Matterhorn. Most couples decide to book the Cervo for their Welcome Dinner the day before, the cocktail and the reception and their ceremony at the Blue Lounge, which is the following venue.

Photographer’s tip: During sunset, step away from your guests for a few minutes and take advantage of the beautiful light for a few additional couple portraits. It’s often the most magical light of the day. You can also plan your first look in the back garden of CERVO, which offers a quiet and scenic setting with a lovely view of the Matterhorn.

Blue Lounge – Zermatt

Blauherd 2600m – Zermatt

Capacity :up to 160 guests on the terrace & around 30 seats indoors

If you’re looking for one of the most breathtaking views for your ceremony, the Blue Lounge is hard to beat. Perched high above Zermatt, it offers an incredible panorama of the Matterhorn and the surrounding alpine peaks. Reaching the venue by cable car is already part of the experience, and it’s something your guests, especially those visiting from abroad, will never forget.

The Blue Lounge is typically used for ceremonies and cocktail celebrations. Couples and their guests head up the mountain to exchange their vows in this spectacular setting, enjoy a celebratory drink together, and then return to the village for the wedding reception at another venue.

Photographer’s tip: If you’ve already seen each other in your wedding attire, take a few minutes to capture some couple portraits at the back of the hotel. The view there is incredible. If you’re seeing each other for the first time at the ceremony, plan to take these portraits right after your ceremony exit while the emotions are still fresh.

The staff is wonderful, and the whole place feels like a warm hug. You can enjoy the beautiful views right in front of the chalet, surrounded by nature.

From its stunning ballroom with a gigantic chandelier to its beautiful garden overlooking Lake Geneva and the mountains, there’s so much to love. You’ll probably spot the iconic CGN boats gliding across the lake, they’re actually public transport, but you could even rent one for a memorable welcome dinner! You can have your reception either in their ballroom or at the Coupole, the seaside restaurant.
