Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic has been a fixture in Montreux for well over a century. Constructed by Eugene Jost, this building first opened its doors in 1870 to provide its visitors with a respite from their day-to-day. While the years may have passed, the charm of the building never faded. The interior common rooms draw inspiration from the grandeur of the Belle Époque era, offering crystal chandeliers in the middle of decadent crown molding.
As you walk around the hotel, you’ll notice other unique features like the turn-of-the-century Jugendstil windows from Eduard Diekman or the calming designs meant to invoke the calm of the surrounding Alpines. In 2019, the hotel was purchased by the Marriott Autograph Collection, marrying the breathtaking building with all the high-end accommodations you’ve come to know and love from this chain. Throughout every second of your wedding weekend, you can count on an experience that is nothing short of luxurious!
Details of the Grounds
When you book Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic, you will have everything you need for a perfect wedding weekend! The hotel features 155 rooms with the ability to reserve spaces for as many guests as you need. I always encourage my clients to make sure they book at least two rooms for the night before their wedding. With this option, you will have a separate space for you and your partner where you can get ready before it’s time for the ceremony to begin. The rooms are large and luxurious, with private decks ideal for candid snapshots with your friends.
For your wedding, you will be able to choose from several locations, or as they call it, Wedding Salons. The largest of these spaces is then 4 Saisons. This room is lavish in all of the best ways! It was originally decorated in the Belle Époque style, and many of the original details remain. Tall, cream-colored walls are accented with crown molding, while large, crystal chandeliers illuminate the space. The arched windows across the space invite views of the nearby Lake Geneva. If you decide on this space for your ceremony, you will have direct access to the sun deck, ideal for your cocktail hour. Your guests can grab a signature drink and take in the views as the room is transformed for your reception. This ballroom is prepared to handle parties of all sizes, making it a popular option for larger weddings!
If you would prefer an outdoor wedding, the venue lets you rent out the sun deck of the 4 Saisons for a wonderfully romantic ceremony backdrop! You will be perched high in the area with the picturesque lake as your backdrop. Once your ceremony is over, your guests can order drinks before heading inside for your reception.
Smaller Weddings At Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic
For those hosting a smaller wedding with less than 100 guests, Salon Gris might be your spot. While it has many of the same flourishes as 4 Saisons, it is a little toned down, with modern decorations and off-white walls that will blend in with nearly every wedding style. If you choose this space, you can work with the hotel to find a spot for your cocktail hour so they can prepare the room for your reception.
Finally, the Salon Or is an amazing space for smaller celebrations! This room offers a peek back through the hotel’s history with its Belle Epoque accents. A marble fireplace rests on one side, providing you with the perfect spot to exchange vows surrounded by your closest family and friends. Once you have finished your ceremony, you will be treated to an intimate dinner where you can toast to the future!
